I may not know you personally, but I know what it feels like to fight this world's darkest moments alone and that is what led my heart to write to you today.
Your life matters. You are precious, and you are so very loved.
Why I started this
I know what it feels like to fight life's darkest and toughest battles alone.
There have been multiple times in my life that I've thought to myself. You win life. I'm done. There have been times I've acted on those thoughts, and thankfully I'm still here. There have been times I've planned to act on them but thankfully, I didn't due to one reason or another. This was partially due to my mental illnesses, partially due to the memories I have from my past traumas. Partially due to life continuing to be challenging in ways no one should ever have to experience, for longer than I had the strength to endure it, or so I thought. Throughout my life I've lived through abuse, in every sense of the word. Repeatedly, for years, different people, different ages, same actions. Things I will never be able to forget, from 3 yrs old, and into my early 30s. I've experienced homelessness, addiction, and the pain that comes from living with mental illness. I will tell you about two of the times I wanted to end my life, and what led to me creating this movement, to help you understand it's so important to be intentionally kind to others.
One day I was walking into work with my mind in the darkest place, a place I had been before, but this time I was sure. I was walking into work, thinking about how I would end my life and in that moment, a stranger opened the door for me, then stopped, and looked at me and he asked how I was doing. And he meant it, it was genuine, he actually paused from walking past me and asked a genuine question.
“Hey, how are you doing today?”
That was all it took. A held door and one question asked like it mattered. Like my life mattered and in that moment it felt like it did, two minutes before that, it didn't. I walked away thinking there is still good in this world. It changed my entire day, it changed my entire mindset. It saved me in that moment, and he will never know it. It was the smallest act of kindness, that literally saved my life that day. It gave me hope that not all people are as bad as the ones I've experienced in my life.

Another time, I spent a whole night telling someone I had only just met that I felt worthless, that my life meant nothing, that no one would care if I was gone. I prayed that day, "God, if my life matters at all, please help me see it and please let me know you are still there, and still hear me, and still care". A few hours later, I ordered food from DoorDash. My food delivery showed up with a note from the driver, a complete stranger who had no idea what I had said hours before to my friend, or the prayer I said that day. I cried instantly when I read the note she left on my food. Her note said:
“You matter and you are more than enough.”
She was my answer from God. I still do not know who either of them are. However I know in my heart, they were used by God to do exactly what I needed in those moments, to help me keep going. They will never know what their kindness did for me.
“Be intentionally kind.”
We can create the same impact on other people, every single day, if we just look for ways to be intentionally kind to those around us. When you do a small act of kindness, you may never know it, but God may be using you to answer that person's prayer. Kindness has the power to save lives.
The darkness may outweigh the light at times, but the light will always win.

We can all be that for someone. Every single day. Just look for the small thing, and do it.
The Movement
You Are Loved.
I believe every single person matters, and that no life is ever meaningless. I want to help as many people as possible, never have to go through their darkest moments alone. When I went through mine, I would also think, I hope no one has to ever feel this. No one should have to suffer or be in pain alone. No matter what has happened in life, or where you are, or who you are, your life matters, what you feel matters. I always thought, if it were ever in my power to do so, I would help as many people as I could to never have to feel what I've felt and have no one to turn to for help.
I came up with an idea one day and I started designing tees that say "You are loved", to remind those who may need to hear it, that their life matters, and that they are loved.
Every tee comes with a card, with a small letter from me, with words of encouragement that can be referred to on their darkest days. It also has a list of local resource numbers they can use when additional help is needed. My goal is to give this tee to as many people as possible. Whether it's the person wearing it, or the person walking down the street and seeing it exactly when they need to see those words, my hope is that it helps remind people, that no matter what their minds may be telling them, they are loved, they are valued, and their life matters.
I make as many of these tees as I can, and donate them to as many people as I can. I strongly believe people matter more than profit. If just one life is saved because of this reminder, then all of this was well worth it.
